When I look back on my life I realized that I finally grew up when my wife and I decided on getting pregnant. We were both in our early 30s and things were going well in our careers, so we decided that it was finally time to take that plunge. She decided to quit her job and I cleaned out our spare room, and by the end of the year we welcomed our first daughter into our lives. The week after was consumed with searching for the most unique baby girl names that we could think of.
By the time we got around having another child, we were totally prepared. We had a name already picked out beforehand and we had already started saving for our newborns college education. But the one thing we didn’t do was pick up a really cool due date calendar. My wife always thought these things were a little bit absurd, so we never really got one. But I always liked them and I thought that they would look very nice hung up on the wall. After the birth of our third child we decided to buy a bigger home, and ever since then I haven’t had a single moment to myself.
